How long does collision repair take?

It's the first question almost everyone asks, and it's a fair one. A light bumper repair might be a couple of days; a major structural repair can take a few weeks. Rather than give you a number that turns out wrong, here's what actually moves the timeline so you know what to expect.

1. The severity of the damage

A scuffed bumper or a single panel is quick. Damage that affects the frame, suspension, or safety systems takes longer because every step has to be measured and verified to factory spec. More damaged parts means more disassembly, more repair, more refinishing, and more reassembly.

2. Parts availability

This is the biggest wildcard. Common parts for popular vehicles often arrive in a day or two. Parts for older models, imports, or specialty vehicles can take longer to source — and back-ordered parts can stall an otherwise-finished repair. A good shop orders parts as early as possible and keeps you posted if something's delayed.

3. Hidden damage

The estimate you get on day one almost never catches everything. Real damage shows up once we take the vehicle apart.

This is normal and expected. When we find additional damage, we document it and submit a supplement to your insurer. That can add days — both for the extra repair and for the approval — but it's how you get a complete, safe repair instead of a rushed one.

4. Insurance approvals

Initial estimates and supplements both need insurer sign-off. Most are quick, but approvals can add a day here and there. We handle this back-and-forth for you so you're not stuck playing middleman.

5. Paint and curing

Refinishing isn't instant. Primer, base coat, and clear coat each need time to apply and cure properly so the finish lasts. Rushing paint is how you get problems down the road — we don't.
